We were ready so we started ahead of schedule. Mark is a lovely man, really helpful and he handled everything with care. We finished earlier than planned. I cannot recommend him enough. Unbelievably awful traffic in WC1 (not helped by no-entry signs which meant we had to go a long way round) which delayed our arrival by half an hour but Mark dealt with it intelligently and patiently.

Perhaps at booking time it would be better to get a more accurate idea of the real time the move will take. I knew I had quite a bit of stuff and wasn’t sure 2 hours was enough – it certainly wasn’t – so would appreciate a better way to book the correct time – instead of paying a lot extra to conclude the move. Not Mark’s fault at all, but it ended up costing more than I really wanted to pay – the half hourly extra charge mounts up very quickly!

This is not a complaint because the marks will come off with a solvent. I am only mentioning this so that in future he ensures that his gloves are clean in case he lands up having to move furniture for a pedantic old fart who may not view the problem with the same ease as I did. Otherwise I would recommend Mark as a helpful gentleman. Well done Mark!

There seems to be a lack of transparency in how some of the companies operate and sub-contract work out to other drivers. This wouldn’t be such a problem except that some of the delivery detail hadn’t been passed on and caused a problem for the lady receiving the delivery. My other issue was that the driver called to say he was on his way 2 hours earlier than I had booked him for; however, when I explained that it wasn’t possible and that I had booked for a specific time, he agreed to revert to the scheduled time. Also, I was told that in addition to my credit card payment online, the congestion charge would need to be paid to the driver in cash because this site does not allow for that to be taken into account at time of quote. This needs to be considered… All in all, the job got done although not as smooth as I would have expected. |
